This website was created to support the effort we are putting into the Dublin Flora Women’s Mini Marathon. “We” are a group of ladies who work for Oracle. Last year we set up “wemustbemad.com” to publicise our fundraising, this year we are hoping to raise a lot more money for charity and so we have expanded our team of supporters and the charities we support (see list below and click through to each charity page). Please help us raise money for these very worthwhile charities. Come back again to visit wemustbemad.com to see how close we are to our targets.

- Dogs Aid
“Dogs Aid is a charity set up by three ladies in 1987 to help dogs that were unwanted and abandoned in Dublin, Ireland. Since then we have helped rehabilitate and rehome hundreds of dogs. Dogs Aid has a no destruction policy so we never put a recoverable dog down, and as a result the sanctuary is a permanent home for many forever dogs that are “”too old or too bold”" to be rehomed. From time to time we also take care of other animals including rabbits, bats, birds, foxes, feral cats, hedgehogs etc. ”

- Waterford Animal Welfare
“Waterford Animal Welfare is a non-profit group. We are dedicated to the lifetime care of abused, neglected, confiscated or unwanted animals and birds to prevent them from being destroyed. The animals that we rescue are mainly dogs and cats, but also horses, donkeys, swans, seals, bats and any other creature that may be suffering.
Rescued animals are found permanent homes which have been carefully chosen by our personnel. We do not sell any of the animals rescued and they are not used for breeding; we simply protect them from harm. Our highly trained personnel ensure that their medical, nutritional, and emotional needs are well met. With help from our supporters, we are able to provide temporary care for these animals prior to re-housing on a permanent basis.“

“The Flora Women’s Mini Marathon is the biggest all women’s event of its kind in the world. It has grown steadily in numbers since it began in 1983 with its popularity increasing significantly over the last few years. Over those years some 600,000 women have entered the event. Charities are the big winners. In 2007 it is estimated in excess of €10m was raised by the participants bringing the total since the race started in 1983 close to €100m. All charities benefit. It is now the biggest single day charity event in Ireland. The event has no equals in its appeal. Women of all ages representing every county and every walk of life take part in this great Festival of Women. No pressure is put on anyone - all the participants have to do is get fit enough to walk, jog or run the 10k. It is up to each individual to set her own target. Every finisher is a winner - and receives a commemorative medal and ribbon to mark the achievement. The women decide themselves who they will support and many local causes gain vital revenue from the event.”
